POSITION: Marketing and Communication Manager (60% time)
EMPLOYER: Risk Management Initiative in Microfinance (RIM)
LOCATION OF JOB: Washington, DC (with periodic travel)
TYPE OF POSITION: Independent contractor

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE
RIM is collaborative market strengthening initiative aimed at promoting and supporting the implementation of stronger, more appropriate risk management in the microfinance sector. Founded in February 2013, RIM is a membership-based initiative which provides a variety of risk management products and services to its membership and the microfinance sector at large. RIM will be registered as a non-profit ASBL based in Luxembourg in 2017.

ABOUT THE JOB
As RIM grows and develops, the initiative is looking to actively promote its risk management solutions to the broader microfinance industry and is seeking a part-time Marketing and Communications Manager to lead its external marketing and communications strategy and execution in 2017, including that of its website www.riminitiative.org.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
Responsibilities assigned to this role are as follows:

  • Development and execution of marketing and communications strategy;
  • Lead internal and external communications;
  • Design and manage appropriate marketing and communication initiatives;
  • Ensure growth path for RIM’s website traffic;

Tasks assigned to this role are as follows:

  • Market segmentation and development of appropriate messaging and marketing collateral;
  • Coordination and production of RIM e-newsletters;
  • Coordination and production of short, periodic promotional news blasts (ie. press releases, announcements, marketing briefs);
  • Coordination and promotion of risk management training events (including periodic webinars);
  • Website management, including: content development, site maintenance, search engine optimization, and traffic growth;
  • Representation at industry conferences;
  • Coordination with external contractors such as graphic designers, web designers, printers, etc.;
  • Provide overall guidance and support to the Director

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Marketing or Communications;
  • Progressive experience in marketing or corporate communications (minimum 5-7 years’ desired);
  • Working knowledge of the microfinance or financial inclusion industry;
  • Proficiency in English and a second language (French and/or Spanish desired);
  • Proven ability to think strategically and outside the box;
  • Ability to work in diverse teams and deliver under pressure;
  • Proven experience developing and executing marketing plans;
  • Proven experience in website management and content development;
  • Proven experience in managing several task or projects simultaneously;
  • Proven experience in training event coordination;
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher);
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop;
  • Proficient with MailChimp and WordPress;
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time;
  • Ability to work in Washington, DC office three (3) days/week
